Our History

In the early 2000's, the organization’s first boffer fighting group was created as a way to incorporate Japanese martial arts into boffer combat. Using a modified version of other combat organization’s rulebooks for safety guidelines, multiple Japanese-inspired boffer groups formed and named their alliance The Sakura Moon Empire.

In 2010, various other unaffiliated boffer groups decided to merge with The Sakura Moon Empire, bringing their own cultures with them. The rulebook was further modified to create a standardized rule set that would incorporate these groups, of whom each had their own cultural inspirations and methods of combat. From here, the organization was named Way of the Sword as an homage to the Japanese martial philosophy.

As of November 2017, Way of the Sword Combat Sports is currently operated by The Cultural Creatives Society under a Board of Directors.
